Kids go free: where children get in for nothing

With a few kids in tow, ticket prices add up fast. The good news: lots of places let children in free, if you know the rules. Here’s where to look.

Scout’s tip

Scout’s free-for-kids rule

Always check the age rule on the official site: “under 3” and “3 and under” aren’t the same thing, and some free child tickets still have to be booked.

  • Bring proof of age for older kids if asked
  • Free tickets may still need reserving
  • One offer per ticket is the norm

Theme parks

  • Disney: under-3s go free at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
  • LEGOLAND and other Merlin parks: under-3s are typically free.
  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: children aged 4 and under go free with a ticket.

Heritage and history

The National Trust and English Heritage both let under-5s in free at most properties. See which membership suits you.

Badges and schemes

  • Blue Peter badge holders get free entry at 200+ UK attractions.
  • US fourth graders get a free Every Kid Outdoors pass for the family.
  • French national museums admit under-18s free.

Always free

National museums in the UK and the Smithsonian in Washington DC are free for everyone. See our free days out guide.
