Scout’s Studio Tour tips

Book direct, book early and allow longer than you think. Most families spend 3–4 hours, and the big model of Hogwarts at the end is worth slowing down for.

  • Children aged 4 and under are free, but need a ticket
  • There are no tickets on arrival
  • Pack snacks: food inside adds up

Booking tickets

  • Book online in advance on the official website. Tickets are for a timed entry slot and can’t be bought on arrival.
  • Under-5s go free (aged 4 and under) but still need a ticket.
  • Book early for holidays: school holiday dates can sell out weeks or months ahead.
  • Watch out for resellers: packages with transport or hotels cost more. Compare with booking direct.

Getting there

The Studio Tour is in Leavesden, near Watford. By train, go to Watford Junction and take the shuttle bus. Check the official site for the current shuttle details. Driving? There’s on-site parking.

On the day

  • Arrive a little before your slot to allow for security.
  • Highlights include the Great Hall, the Forbidden Forest, Platform 9¾ and the Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley and the giant model of Hogwarts.
  • There’s a café halfway round where you can try Butterbeer.
  • The gift shop is at the end, so agree a souvenir budget in advance!

Make a day of it

Combine the tour with a free photo at Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross and London’s free museums. Visiting from the US or Europe? Check the UK ETA rules before you fly.
